Christopher Alvarez
At the Bicycle Thieves Project, we are honored to have Christopher Alvarez as a member of our family. Known on Instagram as @whynotchrisopher, Chris embodies the mission of our project—to spread the joy of cycling and provide biking opportunities for children in local communities. With his dedication and passion for riding, Chris has become an icon of positivity for many, especially the young enthusiasts in Southern California.
Growing up in Southern California, Christopher Alvarez's journey with two wheels began with dirt bikes and transitioned into bicycles and stunting in 2020. His love for cycling is not just a hobby; it’s a life-changing passion. Chris's vision goes beyond personal enjoyment. "I am hoping to start a community meetup for local kids in the neighborhood who want to learn how to ride a bike and or don’t have a bike to ride," he shares. His initiative, supported by his sponsor Elite BMX and other potential collaborators like Fatboy and Throne, aims to provide bikes to those who need them, fostering a community where everyone can experience the simple joy of riding.
Chris's community spirit is best showcased through his “Try It Fridays” meetups, where he invites people of all ages to come together, ride, practice stunts, and create content. These events, held every few months, are a testament to his commitment to inclusivity and mentorship. Chris describes these gatherings as "a friendly environment where many come to learn and have a good time riding bikes." His efforts not only teach practical skills but also build a supportive community, helping others find joy and purpose through cycling.
People like Christopher Alvarez are the heart and soul of the Bicycle Thieves Project. His dedication, passion, and genuine desire to make a difference are why we started this project. We are incredibly proud to have him in our family, as he perfectly represents our mission to give back and share the joy of biking. As Chris continues to inspire and lead, we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will undoubtedly continue to make in the lives of many.
